Long Term Projects
Community development is a long term commitment. We select, focus and commit to one specific community. We identify youth between the ages of 12 to 18 years of age who desire to be mentored and would benefit from our Aleph Surf Program. Our approach is of the slow and steady kind. It requires us to love our students deeply by being consistent and persevering even when it is tough.
We use a combination of lifeskills, surf lessons and activities to grow together and convey our messages over:
you are loved, you are valued, you have potential
dream, set goals, work hard to reach them
respect others, treat them with dignity, do unto others as you want done unto yourself
Projects are run as an afternoon program and youth have to belong to an educational institution to participate in our activities.
Surf Camps
Hosting:
Short Term Surf Camps allow us to go deeper with students in a location away of their day to day living space. This also cultivates a spirit of adventure and exploring – seeking the unknown together. We also make a point to expose Aleph Students to youth conferences where they can learn, acquire skills and meet youth from other regions.
Sending:
Our second form of surf camps is where Aleph sends teams to assist with long term embedded surf projects around the world.
